Former Maple Leafs forward David Kampf has finally had a chance to speak about his contract termination in Toronto, but declines to answer questions about it.

It's been almost two months since the Maple Leafs and David Kampf terminated their contract after the latter was upset with his position within the organization.
Kampf had failed to make the team out of training camp with a slew of new additions in Matias Maccelli, Nicolas Roy and Dakota Joshua coming in, along with the emergence of rookie star Easton Cowan, putting the Czech forward in a difficult position.
Kampf did report to the Marlies after clearing waivers, but did not see much playing time in the AHL, and as a result, he had initiated discussions with the Leafs about terminating his contract to allow him to pursue an opportunity elsewhere. He found that opportunity in Vancouver.

With the Canucks in town on Saturday to take on the Maple Leafs, Kampf had a chance to clear the air on the whole situation and speak his mind in front of scores of reporters in Toronto.
Rather than sink the Leafs, though, Kampf took the high road and claimed that he had no regrets about making the decision he did, refusing to respond to direct questions about the ordeal.
"I don't want to talk about it too much, but I just make decisions about what I did and I think I'm happy about my decision and I'm here and I'm moving forward."
Kampf played parts of 4 seasons with the Maple Leafs, racking up 301 games in the iconic blue and white sweater. He notched 85 points as a Leaf over that span, and finished his tenure in Toronto as a +13 player.
The veteran forward opting not to discuss his business openly, even though the situation was quite frustrating for him, is a classy move from a classy player. Still, you can be sure that Kampf will be motivated to have a good night against his former club tonight.
Naturally, we should expect to see a Kampf goal tonight against his former team, as the Leafs seem to be more guilty than other teams around the league of allowing former players to score against them.
