It's been mentioned about here and there, has Mike Babcock overstayed his welcome in Toronto? The Leafs continue to get bounced out of the first round of the playoffs and after losing three straight games things don't really suggest anything will change. Of course we're only five games into the season and the Leafs could catch a wave and win 10 straight, but right now things are a miss defensively. While appearing on Leafs Lunch, Darren Dreger was asked if the Leafs would consider firing Babcock in season and he said it's possible. «It's early for that (putting all of the blame on Babcock), but I can see it happening at some point this season. This is too important a year for the Maple Leafs as an organization. They won't dump Babcock and replace him with anyone other than Sheldon Keffe"
.
«If at some point they feel they gotta do something to salvage this, then, they're going to do it, I don't have any doubt in my mind."«If things don't turn around and the Maple Leafs are stumbling and rumbling after 20 games, what choice do they have?»If Keffe had to make the jump, the Leafs would likely keep Dave Hakstol around who spent the last couple of season as head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers. What do you think of Dreger's comments?
