Maple Leafs coach Craig Berube expresses excitement as goaltender Joseph Woll returns from his leave, calling his comeback a huge boost for Toronto's lineup.
In terms of what the personal matter was, the Leafs were very tight-lipped, but were adamant that it had nothing to do with substance use and involved Woll's family.
Maple Leafs Place Woll on LTIR
On Wednesday, the Leafs placed the 27-year-old on long-term injured reserve, which had some speculating that his absence would be prolonged. However, the move was made so that they could recall
Dakota Mermis in light of
Chris Tanev's injury.
Joseph Woll To Rejoin Maple Leafs
How long his return-to-play process will take remains to be seen, but the Leafs are excited to have their goaltender back.
Craig Berube Excited For Woll's Return
Following Friday's morning skate, Craig Berube was asked about Woll's impending return, with the Leafs' bench boss clearly excited, as was obvious by his response.
"Yeah, it's great. We're so happy to have him back. But we're really looking forward to it. It's awesome."
Not only will Woll's return give the Leafs a boost in the crease, but it will drastically ease the workload of
Anthony Stolarz, who has played all but one of the Leafs' games so far this season.
The 27-year-old Woll played a career-high 42 games last season, posting a 27-14-1 record with a 2.73 GAA and .909 save percentage.
