The Maple Leafs have new faces in the fold with the acquisitions of Brandon Carlo and Scott Laughton, and Craig Berube has confirmed when they will debut.
Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving has made a pair of additions to his team in hopes that they'll be able to propel them over the top and help make a deep run this postseason.
First, the team acquired Scott Laughton from the Philadelphia Flyers at 50% retained salary in exchange for prospect Nikita Grebenkin and a conditional 2027 1st round pick.
Not long after the trades were made, Leafs head coach Craig Berube answered that there is a "100%" chance that both Laughton and Carlo will make their Toronto debuts tomorrow night against the Colorado Avalanche at Ball Arena, so long as they arrive in time.
CRAIG BERUBE ALREADY KNOWS SCOTT LAUGHTON VERY WELL:
Berube, who previously coached the Philadelphia Flyers, has already overseen Laughton once in his career and had nothing but good things to say about him.
"I had Scotty as a young kid for a bit. We are getting a great teammate, for one. He is a really good person. Two, he is a guy who is versatile. He can play center, penalty kill, and some power play. He touches all aspects of the game. He plays a physical brand of hockey and is a hard-nosed player, but he has ability."
As far as where Laughton fits into the Leafs' lineup, Berube said that he's still figuring it out.
"I am still thinking about that. I'll think about it a little bit. I have always liked him down the middle of the ice."
Laughton does have the ability to play both wing and centre, so we'll see how Berube opts to use his shiny new toy. As for Carlo, the initial assumption is that he'll be paired with Morgan Rielly.
