Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube's goaltending decision on Saturday tells us a lot about the way things are trending in Toronto.

In early March, Craig Berube was hopeful that one of Anthony Stolarz or Joseph Woll would take over the starting role for the Leafs ahead of the playoffs.
Despite a fantastic performance from Anthony Stolarz on Thursday night, it appears that Joseph Woll has gained the edge over the Stanley Cup Champion. Woll was in the starter's crease for Saturday's morning skate in Nashville indicating he would start for the third time in four games this week.
Woll has won his last three starts, stopping 92 of 98 shots over that span. The 26-year-old has lost just twice since February 1st going 7-2-0 over nine games. Stolarz, on the other hand, is 5-3-1 over that same span.
Despite a much heavier workload than he is used to, Woll battled through the fatigue and now boasts a 24-12-0 record with a respectable 2.78 GAA and .908 save percentage.
Although Berube continues to split starts, it would appear that Woll's performance over the last few weeks has given him a slight edge over Stolarz as the Leafs enter the home stretch of the season.
The Leafs will look to stretch their win streak to four games on Saturday and keep pace with the Florida Panthers atop the Atlantic Division as they continue to push for home-ice advantage in the opening round of the 2024-25 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
