The cries of referee bias towards the Toronto Maple Leafs continue in their series against the Ottawa Senators, but video shows the opposite is more likely the truth.

As accusations of NHL bias towards the Toronto Maple Leafs continue, video evidence shows it's an unfounded complaint.
Meanwhile, another incident, this time involving two players from each team in game 3, pokes some major holes in theories about bias towards the Maple Leafs from the NHL and its referees.
The video involves Matthew Knies getting called for a crosscheck on Ottawa's Ridly Greig. Knies did give Greig a couple of shots to the back, but at the exact same time was getting harder shots, and more of them from the Sens Thomas Chabot.
It's not often you see an NHL player get called for crosschecking while, in turn, getting crosschecked. However, it happened here, and it's hard to figure out why Matthew Knies was the only player to get two minutes on this play.
A trio of NHL referees were officially barred from officiating in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs before the post season began, and there have been plenty of complaints about calls and non-calls from fans of just about every team competing.
While the Maple Leafs got the victory in game 3 to take a commanding 3-0 series lead over the Senators , you never know when a blown call can have a much bigger impact on a game.
