Former Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price has emerged from obscurity to deliver a playful jab at the Toronto Maple Leafs following recent misfortune in the playoffs.

No matter where the teams happen to be in the standings, the long-time rivalry between the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs will usually be a heated affair.
As former Canadiens goaltender Carey Price is showing, the rivalry for players doesn't fizzle out when you stop playing.
Price, whose career was cut short by a debilitating knee injury, was recently the featured speaker for a charity event in Montreal. Asked about the Maple Leafs' defeat at the hands of the Florida Panthers, Price took a playful shot at Toronto, but was also quick to give the team credit for putting up a fight.
"Nobody likes to see the Maple Leafs lose more than me... Being able to push a series to seven games against a team of the Panthers' caliber is good."

Carey Price Is No Stranger To The Maple Leafs In The Post-Season

Price's last season in the NHL came in 2021-22 when he managed to play just five games before his injury put him on the sidelines for good. While he is not officially retired, Price has said his knee is no longer NHL calibre.
His last post-season series against the Maple Leafs came during the 2021 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs when the Montreal Canadiens came back from a 3-1 deficit to defeat Toronto in seven games.
After making it to the Stanley Cup Final, Price and the Canadiens lost in five games to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
