Analyst Believes the Maple Leafs Are on the Verge of Making Big Decision on Max Domi

Max Domi made history in the first-round 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs series against the Ottawa Senators as he and Tie Domi became the first father-son duo to score a game-winning goal for the same team, and against the same team in Stanley Cup Playoffs.

However, when it comes to analysts and fans, players are often only as good as their last game, and Domi is clearly struggling.

One analyst believes Domi's struggles go beyond his own play, as he's actually dragging down linemates, regardless of who he's playing with.

The Athletic's Kevin Papetti says coach Craig Berube has a major decision to make going into Game 6 against Ottawa, and that is whether Domi should even remain in the lineup.

Despite the fact that David Kampf is waiting in the wings, Berube decided on no lineup changes for Game 5, one the Maple Leafs lost 4-0, giving the Senators more hope for a comeback in the process.

Berube has little time to make a decision on his lineup for Game 6 as it takes place Thursday at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa. Allowing the Senators to force a Game 7 would send shockwaves throughout Leafs Nation, as the team attempts to avoid yet another first-round exit.

Like Domi, Leafs captain Auston Matthews is also facing criticism for his performance in the series so far. Both Nick Kypreos and Justin Bourne insist Matthews is capable of much more than he's providing in this series, and must step up when he's needed the most.
