Update on 1 Leafs forward and a trio of defensemen
The Leafs are coming off of a pair of losses in back to back in Detroit and Boston this past week, and with injury and illness ravaging the team, the Buds were in dire need of some good news. Well, they did indeed receive some good news at the team's morning skate on Tuesday, regarding Rasmus Sandin and Pontus Holmberg, as well as T.J. Brodie and Carl Dahlstrom.
Prior to the team's game day skate, both Brodie and Dahlstrom took to the ice to skate with the team's training staff. For Dahlstrom, he's till months away as he continues to work his way back, but for Brodie a return is close. We could see him either this weekend or early next week.
As far as Sandin and Holmberg are concerned, both players were participants in Tuesday's morning skate, which could mean that both are in line to play tonight in Toronto against the visiting Florida Panthers. Both players were hit by the same illness that has been going around the Leafs' locker room. Auston Matthews was the first Leaf to miss a game due to the illness last week in Detroit.
While we don't yet know whether Sandin or Holmberg will play tonight, Sheldon Keefe should have an update on their status following the morning skate today.
