The legendary Joe Bowen's play call on Mitch Marner's absurd overtime winner
With the talent that the Leafs possess among their ''Core 4'', it seems like we're being treated to highlight reel plays on almost a nightly basis - but hey, that's what you'd come to expect when you're paying a handful of players half of your total cap space.
Last night, during the Leafs' matchup against the New York Rangers, the Leafs' superstars once again took over. This time, it was Mitch Marner's turn to dazzle, as he took a simple drop pass from defenseman Timothy Liljegren inside of his own blueline and coasted towards the Rangers' zone before making Zibanejad, Panarin, Miller and Shesterkin look like a group of amateurs.
An account by the name of @LeafsJelly on Twitter has been doing Leafs Nation a service for a bit now, taking the Joe Bowen/Jim Ralph radio play calls and dubbing them over the video feeds to give Leafs fans a taste of what they've been missing, not having Bowen and Ralph on the call for Sportsnet coverage. Last night's call on the Marner goal was especially awesome.
