Mikheyev releases statement about his time as a Leaf ahead of signing with the Canucks
Ilya Mikheyev made it known he was expecting a long-term commitment with sky high dollar value between $4M and $5M per season. Far out of the Leafs' comfort zone for him. It has been known that he likely would not be back in the blue and white, and on Wednesday, he released a statement.
His statement read, "I would like to say thank you to the Toronto Maple Leafs
management, coaches, teammates and of course our fans for the last 3 years of total support, your sincere emotions and faith in me! It was an unforgettable time and a great experience!"

Mikheyev came into his own in the latter half of the season and scored at a 30 goal pace, and scored some big goals against Tampa in round 1. Unfortunately, his play priced him out of a return to Toronto.
