Mats Sundin stops by Leafs locker room to fire up the team before Global Series matchup with Detroit
The Maple Leafs have been in Sweden the entire week. The team has been partaking in various activities related to the NHL's Global Series and some have the locals have been able to catch up with family and friends. Leafs forward Max Domi had mentioned prior to the trip that he was planning to spend time with Leaf legend Mats Sundin.
Ahead of today's game between the Leafs and Detroit Red Wings, Sheldon Keefe was giving a pre-game speech and to wrap up, he brought Leafs' Legend, Mats Sundin into the locker room to read out the starting lineup.
Sundin announced that all of the healthy Swedes on the Leafs roster were starting - Calle Jarnkrok, William Nylander, William Lagesson were announced alongside Morgan Rielly and Max Domi. Lost in the fact that all of the Swedes were starting is the expression on Domi's face hearing Sundin, who was his childhood idol, read his name on the lineup card. It was a great moment to see.
Following the back-and-forth game that saw the Leafs prevail 3-2 on the back of another 3-point night from William Nylander, Jarnkrok was asked about Sundin reading the starting lineup and the reaction the team had when they saw him walk in.

Sundin spends the majority of his time in Sweden, making the odd appearance in Toronto during the season, so having him around the team for an entire week is certainly something the players will remember. With his presence around the Leafs this week, maybe we will see him more involved with the team sometime in the future.
