The Toronto Maple Leafs are hosting this season's All-Star Game and not only is the NHL moving back to an All-Star draft to select the teams, but they've also teased some celebrity involvement. It has been previously reported that each team will have a celebrity co-captain. After much speculation, we finally know who Leafs sniper Auston Matthews will have on his side as co-captain for the event.
It has long been hypothesized that Justin Bieber would play a role in the event, given his previous involvement with the team and the number of Drew House collaborations the two sides have done in recent seasons. Well, on Thursday, a video from the team and a special video message from Auston Matthews confirm what we already suspected. Bieber is in.
The Leafs presented Bieber with a larger-than-life-sized Carlton the Bear, adorned in Leafs/Drew House gear, with Matthews telling Bieber that he can't wait to see him at the All-Star festivities. The video can be seen below:
As far as what the celebrity co-captains will be responsible for, that's really anyone's guess at this point. Obviously, they'll be a part of the draft, but what sort of involvement they might have in the Skills Competition or the actual All-Star Game remains unknown.
We also don't yet know who the celebrity co-captain for Connor McDavid will be either, so the NHL still has a few interesting details that they have not yet revealed. The next couple of weeks should be very interesting as more details begin to drop ahead of the highly-anticipated event at the beginning of next month.
