Leafs head coach shares an update on the injured John Klingberg
The Toronto Maple Leafs are currently in Sweden where they will face the Red Wings on Friday and Wild on Sunday as part of the NHL's Global Series.
The 6,300-kilometre trip can do wonders for team building but won't help a player much who is nursing an injury. Head coach Sheldon Keefe revealed that both defencemen
John Klingberg and Connor Timmins are unlikely to play Friday
Keefe was hoping Klingberg would skate today, but had this to say about Klingberg's absence:
"The travel probably didn't do him any favours".
Klingberg was signed to quarterback what was expected to be a potent Leafs power play, but only has two PP assists to show for his efforts. He was demoted to second power play unit duties before his injury, but did receive another bump up against the Canucks last weekend.
His defensive play has been horrendous this season, with fans gasping in anticipation of another Klingberg mistake in the defensive zone. In 11 games this season Klingberg has no goals, five assists an ugly -7, while averaging 20:33 in ice time.
