As the Leafs begin to gear up for training camp next week, there is a pretty significant rumour floating around out there regarding the Leafs and Flames. Obviously, as with any rumour, we likely shouldn't put a ton of stock into something actually coming to fruition, but since it's out there anyway, we may as well touch on it here.
Naturally, with the Leafs still being approximately $3M over the salary cap and the Flames hovering right around the salary cap, you'd have to assume that any potential deal being worked on between the Flames and the Leafs would have to be a minor one.
Needless to say, rumours often equate to nothing in reality, so this could all be moot. However, since the offseason is such a slow and dragging time of the year, there's nothing wrong with at least discussing the possibilities when a rumour does arise. We know that Treliving spent 9 years with the Flames organization. I'm sure there are some players that he'd love to bring over. However, for now, all we can do is just sit, wait, wonder and kill time until camp opens up next week.
