Jets' top prospect admits to being a Leafs fan ahead of Thursday matchup in Toronto
Before tonight's Leafs vs. Jets game, the media spoke with Jets rookie winger Cole Perfetti. Hailing from Whitby, Ontario, it's likely Perfetti will be playing in front of more than a few friends and family tonight in Toronto. However, that's not the only thing that makes playing at Scotiabank Arena significant for the 21-year-old:
Perfetti was 11 years old when Toronto lost Game 7 against Boston in 2013, just for reference. I don't know about you, but I'd like to stop being reminded that some guys in the NHL are quite younger than I am. Where does the time go?
It's easy to forget that it has been almost seven years since Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner made their NHL debut, but damn, it is a hard pill to swallow once you remember. And that's coming from someone only a year older than them.
Perfetti has had an alright season, sitting with 26 points in 40GP. However, he's looking to extend his game point streak to three this evening, and what better way to do that than when against the team you grew up watching?
