The Montreal Canadiens are still very much a rebuilding team, despite the fact that they landed the first overall pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. It's fair to say that since they're not ready to begin pushing to compete yet, there aren't a lot of untouchables on the team other than their young cornerstones.
Evgenii Dadonov is one player in specific whose stay with the Canadiens could be a short one, despite being acquired earlier this summer. It's been reported by Marco D'Amico that Habs could flip the 33-year-old Russian this season.
Dadonov was traded to Montreal for
Shea Weber on June 16 by the Vegas Golden Knights after the team missed the playoffs for the first time in their existence.
Dadonov carries a $5 million cap hit for one more season before becoming an unrestricted free agent next summer. Dadonov played in 78 games this season, putting up 43 points. Teams that are looking for some scoring should be calling the Habs on a potential deal.
