Former Leafs prospect carted off on a stretcher
There was a scary scene in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last night during a game between the Charlotte Checkers and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins as former Leaf prospect Filip Hallander collapsed during a board battle. The incident occurred with just over a minute remaining in the third period.
Hallander was immobilized and after a long few minutes, was placed and taken out on a stretcher. Following the game, which was called with 1:12 left, the Penguins chose to cancel their media availability and did not provide an update on Hallander.
Hallander was acquired by the Leafs along with a 2020 first round pick, Evan Rodriguez and a minor league defenseman for Kasperi Kapenen, Pontus Aberg and Jesper Lindgren. He was then traded back to Pittsburgh in a deal for Jared McCann prior to the Seattle Kraken expansion draft.
