Former Leaf and his long-time girlfriend officially announce their engagement
Last summer, the Leafs did their best to add what they thought were helpful pieces to try to augment their core as best they could during the summer. One of the players who came in was Orangeville, Ontario native Nick Ritchie.
Unfortunately for the Leafs and Ritchie, there just didn't appear to be a fit and the veteran forward and former top-10 pick was shipped off to the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for defenseman
Ilya Lyubushkin (now with Buffalo) and Ryan Dzingel (claimed on waivers last season by the San Jose Sharks). Ritchie still has one year remaining on his deal with the Yotes.
As it turns out, life after the Leafs isn't too bad for Ritchie! After putting up just 9 points for the Leafs in 33 games last season, Ritchie turned it on after landing in Arizona, notching 10 goals and 4 assists for 14 points in 24 games. Boy, would the Leafs have enjoyed that sort of production from the 26-year-old while he was in Toronto.
Now, Ritchie has some more good news. He and his girlfriend, Erica Buffett, have officially announced their engagement!
Congrats to the soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs. and best of luck to Nick during the upcoming season.
