A Canadian air traffic controller played a funny prank on Florida Panthers pilots as they flew into Edmonton for Game 3.

The Florida Panthers hockey club were on their way to Edmonton yesterday by plane to play in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals tonight. However, when their flight was approaching Edmonton, they got an interesting call from a Canadian air traffic controller on the ground.

The air traffic controller calls the pilot to let him that:

"I got a 2 hour hold for you, or however long it would take for you to be low enough on fuel for you to divert from Edmonton."

After some radio silence the air traffic controller goes on to say:

"Mention this to your passengers and maybe they'll figure it out."

After that comment, the pilot finally realizes it's a practical joke. The pilot responds by asking:

"You got a score on the hockey game?"

the co-pilot also responds by reminding the air traffic controller that:

"The game's tomorrow.

After some laughter was exchanged, the air traffic controller mentioned that he hopes they knew it was a joke, and he is hopeful that Gary Bettman won't be on his case.

A few fans are in uproar about this exchange, but the reality of it is that it was a kind-hearted exchange by a few hockey fans.

Now that the Florida Panthers are safe and sound, they are gearing up for Game 3 in Edmonton against the Oilers tonight.
