Prime Minister Justin Trudeau among those who wants to see Hockey Canada scrapped and rebuilt
The tension that currently surrounds Hockey Canada after a pair of scandals involving the 2003 World Junior team and the 2018 World Junior team has reached the table of Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, who addressed the need for change finally on Wednesday.
"It's fairly clear that both the government and Canadians in general have lost confidence in the leadership at Hockey Canada. And the longer it takes for Hockey Canada to realize that, the more difficulties they're going to face," Trudeau said at Rideau Hall on Wednesday
The call for change has been widespread, but the board for Hockey Canada has not yet conceded that change is needed after a pair of sexual assaults had allegedly been covered up in both 2003 and 2018.
At this point, it appears as though only a top-to-bottom rebuild of the program and the people involved will appease those who have condemned the actions (and inaction) of the current regime. It's hard to argue against that idea.
